Nuggets’ Karl visits Broncos’ McDaniels (AP)
Denver Nuggets coach George Karl was Denver Broncos coach Josh McDaniels’ special guest Wednesday. Both men were jokingly asked if Karl was at Dove Valley to seek advice on how to handle a superstar who wants out of town. The Nuggets are trying to persuade All-Star forward Carmelo Anthony to sign an extension.

Baseball sports betting – Lee and Rangers Hope that Its Never Over Until Its Over!

Things aren’t going well for the Texas Rangers in the 2010 World Series. After looking practically unbeatable during the MLB Playoff
and then going into the World Series as a fairly heavily favored baseball betting pick
the Rangers have responded with only 1 victory out of 4 games. Now
Texas
with their backs against the wall
must find a way to at least send the Fall Classic back…

Rex Ryan doesn’t deny that his wife is YouTube foot fetish star

Rex Ryan doesn’t deny that his wife is YouTube foot fetish star
Rex Ryan isn’t denying that his wife of 23 years
Michelle
is the star of a popular series of web videos for foot fetishists. The New York Jets coach told a Chicago reporter that the subject of Tuesday’s Deadspin report
which implied that he filmed Michelle for a number of foot-focused web videos
was a personal matter. His lack of denial seems to suggest that the woman in the videos is Michelle and that the male voice heard off camera belongs to him. You can read all the details at Deadspin but the gist is that Rex’s wife Michelle (the one he jokingly compared to Gisele Bundchen a few weeks ago) is the star of a number of popular YouTube clips devoted to her feet. Going by the handle “ihaveprettyfeet
” Michelle
or a woman who looks an awful lot like her
talks about her “soft
” “petite” and “beautiful” feet as the camera zooms in and out of them. The videos stopped in mid-2009 before Ryan’s first year as Jets head coach. Deadspin was tipped off by a reader
who noted the similarities in looks between “ihaveprettyfeet” and Michelle Ryan. But the parallels don’t end there. Another reader noted that some details on the profile of “ihaveprettyfeet” on an adult website has a lot in common with Michelle’s bio
including her previous location (Ellicot City
Md.
when Rex was with the Baltimore Ravens)
birth month (December) and having completed a graduate degree. That’s hardly enough to convict in a court of law
but plenty to sway the court of public opinion. With his non-denial
Rex may have just as well confirmed the story. So what does this all mean? Not much
other than that Rex and Michelle have one of the more common sexual fetishes and little care for their own privacy. If it is them
the couple posted the videos knowing they’d be seen by people who could recognize them. And they did it anyway. It’s probably not the tack I’d take
but I also wouldn’t have said my team was Super Bowl favorites in August. What someone does in the privacy of their own home (or SUV) with a consenting partner is none of my business. When you put it out there
though
it’s tough to ignore. If true
Rex and Michelle Ryan took a private matter and made it public by releasing these videos. They neither deserve sympathy nor scorn.

Tim Tebow leads list of first-time starting quarterbacks
It took 15 weeks
an injury to Kyle Orton
and the departure of the coach who drafted him
but Tim Tebow will get his first start on Sunday when the Denver Broncos take on their hated rivals
the Oakland Raiders. With Josh McDaniels out the door and the Broncos entering the “silly season” phase of 2010
it was clearly time to see what Mr. Sunshine and Rainbows can do on the field. Two more first-time starting quarterbacks will provide additional intrigue to teams that have seen their seasons run down the drain. That’s what this time of year is for bad teams – the chance to get early tryouts for the 2011 season and see who’s ready for what. Is there a diamond in the rough in this class of youngsters? Let’s take a look.Denver’s Tim Tebow vs. the Oakland Raiders – A matchup against the Raiders will be very interesting for Tebow
because his running ability could be negated against a Raiders front seven that has improved through the season. Any inside runs near the goal line could also be met by tackle LaMarr Houston
an under-the-radar rookie who could make a real difference for an Oakland defense that might welcome super-cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha to the field if he has good hops off his ankle injury. All signs point to a tough go for Tebow
as the Raiders are still looking to crack the .500 mark this season and cling to very faint playoff hopes.Green Bay’s Matt Flynn vs. the New England Patriots – Aaron Rodgers’ concussion put Flynn in the driver’s seat against a Patriots pass defense that ranks around the middle of
the pack despite the emergence of rookie cornerback Devin McCourty. However
the challenge for Flynn won’t be the Patriots’ defense; more likely he’ll be pressed to make plays he’s not capable of as a Patriots offense as efficient as any we’ve ever seen forces the Packers’ offense to play catchup. Flynn was 15 of 26 for 177 yards and a pick against the Lions last week after Rodgers got his bell rung. As the Packers are still trying to find their running game
any chance of an upset against the Pats will rest entirely on the team’s defense. Minnesota’s Joe Webb vs. the Chicago Bears – Webb is an interesting cat; a guy to watch as he takes over for the injured Tarvaris Jackson (ligament damage in toe) and Brett Favre (torn Wranglers
itchy tear ducts). At UAB
Webb was the first player in NCAA history to pass for more than 2
000 yards and rush for 1
000 in consecutive seasons; a receiver who was pushed into service behind center because smaller schools running particular offenses are more apt to use their better athletes in non-traditional quarterback positions. Webb was thought to be a possible Wildcat player in the NFL as a draft prospect
and with the outdoor conditions in Minnesota not favoring passing under any circumstances
one wonders what sort of options looks we might see between Webb
Adrian Peterson
and the Vikings’ receiver corps.

NASCAR gambling – Ford 400 at Homestead Motor Speedway

It’s the final race of the NASCAR season and Jimmie Johnson has pretty much secured his third straight NASCAR Cup. It’s an amazing feat. I’m not sure anybody else has ever done that. Of course
the rules changed recently which allowed Johnson to coast through the regular season
just enough to get into the Chase
where he knew that his crew and his cars would outrun everybody….

Danny Woodhead sells his own jerseys with little fanfare

Danny Woodhead sells his own jerseys with little fanfare
He may be “Rudy”, “The Great White Hope”, and “The Sawed-Off Wes Welker” all wrapped up in one gritty, gutsy little package to the New England faithful when he’s in uniform and on the field, but Patriots runner/receiver Danny Woodhead needs a little help with facial recognition when dealing with the same fans who cheer his exploits every Sunday. In a recent YouTube video, Woodhead (employee name “Dan”) pranked customers at a Modell’s Sporting Goods in Patriotland by donning a sales clerk uniform and helping customers with their purchases — especially those purchases that included Woodhead replica jerseys — which, you might assume, are outselling BenJarvus Green-Ellis replicas at a very high rate.Woodhead starts off by trying to push his own replicas (the burn from one potential customer: “Too small!”) and is momentarily recognized by at least one female customer before Woodhead convinces her that he’s not the guy. In the end, Woodhead sold seven jerseys and seven T-shirts in one hour, despite the fact that he seemed to get mixed reviews for his customer service near the end of the piece. That’s still a pretty big haul for one hour, though. If the whole CBA discussion falls through and Woodhead is without a job in 2011, he’s probably got a job at Modell’s if he can diversify and try to sell some Tom Brady gear as well…

The Ryan Leaf trilogy, coming to a bookstore near you
What’s more surprising than Ryan Leaf writing a book? Ryan Leaf writing three books. The man who is nearly the consensus pick for biggest draft bust of all-time has signed a deal to write three books — one about his time at Washington State, one about his time in the NFL, and one about his time spent battling addiction. [Related: Draft Busts of the 2000s: Where are they now?] The Washington State book is projected to hit shelves in October 2011, and since we’re talking about the super stable Ryan Leaf, I’m sure that nothing unforeseen will happen between now and then. Go ahead and write that date in stone, baby. Here’s what it’s about.”It will cover four years, from the moment I decided to attend Washington State up through our Rose Bowl appearance in 1998,” Leaf says. “For Cougar fans, it will be an entertaining, behind-the-scenes journey through a fascinating time in the school’s football history. For sports fans generally, it will offer an unvarnished look at the world of college athletics, good and bad. The aim is not to glorify the sport or our very special 1997 WSU team, but to put a light on the powerful stories, colorful characters and some of the shenanigans behind one of our country’s most beloved weekend pastimes.”Sounds great. Not interested. [Related: Is JaMarcus Russell a challenger to Ryan Leaf's throne?] When the NFL book comes out, though, I am very, very interested in that. I hope Bobby Beathard gets to write one of the chapters. That seems unlikely, though. In all seriousness, I’m glad Leaf is at a point in his life where he feels like he can share his experiences with the world. If he’s willing to be open and raw with the books, they have the potential to be fascinating. If he can fight the urge to always try to make himself look like the good guy (and good luck with that if he does), these might be his best contribution to the world of football.
